Last night I refereed a really good game. I had reffed the one team in the Lonnie Krahn Classic tournament, and I had watched the two teams play in the final of the tournament. It was such an amazing game to watch while reffing it wasn’t a very rough game, and it started out really close.
I love having really good games to ref, because it makes it more interesting and fun for me. There weren’t any problems with coaches or players. There were very few penalties, which is the best part because when there is a lot of penalties the games can become out of hand.
The one thing that kept getting on my nerves was the dad running the shot clock. My partner and I ended up yelling, “reset” throughout a lot of the game. When this happens the shot clock operator is paying more attention to the game rather than what he should have been doing. There would be some shots that hit the front of the goalie that call for an automatic reset, and he would miss it so we would constantly be yelling for a reset.
Other than the shot clock it was a really amazing game to watch and be a part of. I hope I have some more amazing game like the one from last night again throughout the rest of the season.
