Western Canadian Ringette Championships

What an amazing tournament! It was such an amazing experience for myself.  I never got to participate in any tournaments like WCRC when I played so getting to experience the tournament with helping with the media was just amazing. Congratulations to teams that participated! All the games I got to watch part of were amazing to see.  The games played were truly the best of the West and I hope to get to watch more amazing games like the ones I saw again. Here's the video that was played at Closing Read more [...]

Western Canadian Ringette Championships day two

Another busy day! Although I didn’t get to watch as much ringette as I would’ve liked to there were some amazing games played. I will admit that I did leave the ringette to go and watch the Calgary Hitmen in their first playoff game against Kootenay Ice (I can’t help it I have season tickets and my aunt was here to go to the game with me). I’m back at the rink bright and early tomorrow morning to watch some more amazing games. I can’t wait to see the games played tomorrow. Also I Read more [...]

Abby Willerth of U14AA Calgary Crossfire started off opening ceremonies with singing the national anthem. Provincials

What an amazing weekend for ringette! Sherwood Park held a very exciting and amazing provincials tournament. To put on any tournament it takes a lot of hard work and dedication from the volunteers. Thank you to everyone that has helped put on this tournament and for making it a memorable weekend. To be playing in a tournament of the top 12 teams in the province it takes a lot of hard work to get there. There are so many teams that want to be playing in provincials that didn’t make it, so Read more [...]

There are 13 referees from across the four western provinces along with four referee supervisors (and a referee supervisor from Nova Scotia, but I don’t Read more [...]

Provincials day one and two

What a day for ringette yesterday and today! Opening ceremonies were amazing to see, it is always something different and unique so it’s not the same each year. The team I coach won their first two games yesterday placing them first in their pool. The teams that came in first in each pool were: Hinton Fireballs from Pool A, St. Albert Blackout from Pool B, Spruce Grove Adrenaline from Pool C, and the NW Calgary Fireballs from Pool D. Teams in second were: Edmonton Phantoms, St. Albert Chicks Read more [...]

Provincials Time

The U12C Northwest Fireballs team I coach is heading to provincials. They came in second in provincial playdowns, which guaranteed them a spot in provincials. While city playoffs are no longer the way to get to provincials the U12C Fireballs won the title of city championships after a couple of close games against the U12C Bowview Ice Dragons. Heading to provincials from Calgary are the Northwest Fireballs, Bowview Blitz, Bowview Ice Angels, and Bowview Ice Dragons. Games start at 7:45 a.m. Read more [...]

Did you know?

A quick history of the Western Canadian Ringette Championship Not a lot of people know how or why WCRC was started or when it even started. I knew very little about this tournament when I first started looking for information, so I thought I would share what I have found with anyone who is wanting to know more about this tournament or just about this amazing sport in general. Westerns were started in 1997 and hosted only 4 Tween AA (U14AA) teams with the teams being from Alberta and Saskatchewan Read more [...]
